You Can Have a Life of Calm
For people who have lived with turmoil, finding peace is a far-off dream. The truth is that peace isn’t just something we want — it’s absolutely necessary in order to live the lives we dream of. My journey to peace was not straightforward; it was a very difficult path carved out of years of challenges, misunderstandings, and mistakes. It wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I realized it would be very hard work to replace what I was used to with things like understanding, acceptance, and healing. This article isn’t just about peace — it’s about the blessings that come from embracing it, and how my experiences can guide you to that same serene place.
The Turning Point
As a child and young adult, there was always a cacophony of anger and frustration around me. I might have created — and I certainly contributed to — that symphony of chaos that shaped my understanding of family and love. This false idea led to failed marriages and the daunting task of raising four children in an environment I desperately wanted to improve.
But there comes a moment when you realize that the life you long for is nothing like the life you’ve known. That realization was my turning point. It was then that I committed myself to change, to heal, and to create a life where peace would guide the orchestration of my future.
The Journey Inward
Peace, I discovered, begins within. It’s an internal shift that comes from self-discovery, forgiveness, and the courage to let go of what no longer serves you. My journey inward required deep reflection and therapy. I had to learn to face the parts of myself I had wanted to hide. I had to learn to love those parts of myself as much as the parts I was proud of.
I learned that peace is a choice — a daily practice of love, connection, and forgiveness. You don’t get it all in one day. It’s a gradual change. It’s a continuous commitment to live authentically and compassionately in truth, regardless of the pain you might feel on the way.
The Power of Books
I read a lot of books on this journey. So many of them offered wisdom and solace when I needed it most. Reading books about peace and self-love (and the science of those) helped me accept myself and understand the truths I needed to embrace to move forward. Years later, writing my own books has been a cathartic process because I now had an opportunity to share my story and offer others a roadmap to peace.
My books aren’t just narratives of my journey but tools for your change from chaos to peace. I offer my own insights, exercises, and real-life examples of how you can achieve peace, even when it seems out of reach. If I can create a peaceful life from the remnants of chaos, so can you. My books are your companions, your guides, and your inspiration start your own journey to peace, or to help you continue what you’ve already started. And when you are there — living a life filled with peace — my books are reminders of beautiful things available to you to help keep you there.
Why Peace Matters
We know that peace means absence of conflict. But it’s more. It’s the presence of harmony, balance, and love. It’s the quiet confidence that helps you face life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Peace is the foundation of a fulfilling life. Working toward and understanding what peace means to me has allowed me to experience joy, love, and connection in their truest forms.
